Rustic Glam is my Christmas theme this year and I incorporated some DIY Rustic Glam Pine Cones in to my porch decor that adds just the perfect little detail too. I’m all about the small details. Like OCD small details.

I actually went in to Big Lots to check out the Halloween clearance and left with a whole cart load of Christmas decorations. True Story. Big Lots definitely hooked me up with the Rustic Glam Christmas decor that I am going for this year.
I’ve always been a fan of Big Lots. When I used to work full time, our office had a desk decorating competition and since Big Lots was just down the street from where I worked, it wasn’t uncommon for my co-workers and me to hit up Big Lots on our lunch break. Who needs to eat anyways? I could always count on finding unique items there. One year, I decorated my whole cubicle in dog theme items found at Big Lots. #truth
I keep a vintage ladder on my front porch so styling my front porch was easy to do since Big Lots has everything you need for inside and outside your home. I added pretty gold and burlap ribbons and decorative greenery sticks in to the 18″ pre-lit Christmas Tree, draped a garland around the ladder, used sleigh ornaments as decorative pieces and just added batteries inside the a marquee star and lantern.
I brought in a few more DIY details in to my Rustic Glam front porch by making DIY Metallic Gold and Glitter Pine Cones. Talk about an easy craft. I remember making glitter pine cones as a kid. Of course, I’d use like a whole bottle of Elmer’s Glue along with a whole bottle of rainbow glitter which made one big, goopy pine cone mess. My mom was like, “For me? Yay!” Probably thinking this hot mess will never dry.
This time around, I lightly brushed the Pine Cones with Mod Podge then sprinkled them with gold glitter or sprayed painted them with metallic gold paint. There is an important tip before decorating pine cones. Bake Them! Yes, like in the oven ’cause you don’t want any bugs . Bake at 200 degrees for around 45 minutes or until you smell them cooking works too.
Big Lots carries high-quality, seasonal decor for both inside and outside the home where you definitely won’t sacrifice quality for price. Aren’t these Sleigh Ornaments the cutest? They look great displayed on my ladder too.
My original plan was to create a DIY painted Christmas sign to add to my rustic front porch decor but when I saw this chalkboard sign at Big Lots, I was like, hello, my life just got easier! Well more like, life just got Merry & Bright! Why re-create the wheel when Big Lots keeps holiday decorating simple.
As you can tell, I am a big fan of a welcoming porch so a Welcome Mat is a must. There were so may to choose from but I went with red. Can’t ever go wrong with red during Christmas.
Rustic Glam Christmas
This vintage ladder I keep on my porch is one of my favorite pieces I’ve collected over the years. It such a unique way to display Holiday Decor too.
Doesn’t this Marquee Star look great displayed next to the Rustic Glam Pine Cones too?
I love how my DIY Rustic Glam Pine Cones and my Rustic Christmas Front Porch turned out this year too!

August 21, 2016 at 4:46 pmI know that this is an old post, but could you possibly tell me how tall your ladder is? I have been trying to find one this size for a wedding prop.

August 21, 2016 at 7:46 pmI love my ladder! I found it at a vintage store. It’s about 4 feet tall and I decorate it for all seasons. I’ve even been offered money for it and there is no way that’s happening..lol. Good luck with finding one- Holly

October 24, 2017 at 3:59 pmI just LOVE your ladder and decorating ideas. I have a similar ladder and will be decorating it starting with Christmas this year. I am have trouble locating the Marquee Star you have in the picture. Did you also purchase this at Big Lots. I was just there and they don’t carry them. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful decorating tips. Your home is lovely.

November 11, 2017 at 11:01 pmHi Laura. Yes, I look forward to decorating my ladder outside for every season. I did get the marquee Star from Big Lots about 2 years ago but I’m sure you could find something similar at other stores. Thanks for visiting. Holly
