The kiddos are back to school soon and maybe you feel like you should bring in something useful and chic for the teacher. You know you wanna show off those mad craftin’ skills too. This teacher gift idea isn’t so much about the Apple, it’s about the way it’s presented on a Mini Pallet wrapped up in twine with a cute tag.
It’s apple week over on the Pebbles Blog where I’m sharing this fun apple project made with the Pebbles Back to School stickers and the Home + Made collection. I know, apples pretty much scream teacher and I’m sure some teachers receive soooo many apples they probably could make a dozen Apple Pies with them. Whatever apple, it’s the thought that counts and the presentation of course.
I originally found this idea on how to make a mini pallet out of Popsicle sticks on Pinterest and was inspired to give it a try. I mean what crafter doesn’t love pallets projects? Especially Mini Pallets!
How to make a Mini Pallet Coaster:
- You will need 14 craft sticks to make one Mini Pallet.
- Trim off the rounded ends of each stick.
Make sure the sticks are cut at an even length. Very Important. You don’t want to have a wonky lookin’ pallet.
Unlike the original tutorial I followed, I used a few dabs of hot glue to get the Mini Pallet started. One because I’m to impatient to wait and balance the sticks for the Super Glue to dry and Two because it was just quicker. Did I mention I was sorta impatient?
- Lay 2 craft sticks flat.
- Dab a bit of hot glue on to 3 crafts sticks and place them vertical on the flat sticks.
- Turn the pallet over.
- Now, use Super Glue to attach 2 more craft sticks side by side in middle.
This will now be the bottom of the mini pallet.
- Turn the pallet over again and super glue more crafts sticks, spacing them apart to cover the top of the pallet.
- When, the sticks on the top of the pallet are dry, you can now snap off the 3 craft sticks that are hot glued and attach them with super glue if desired.
Since this Mini Pallet is a teacher gift, I secured an apple on the pallet with twine and made a simple tag using stickers from the Pebbles Back to School and Home + Made collections.
As you can see, I ended up making a few Mini Pallets. I stained one, used distressing ink on another and left a few natural. I also personalized the Mini Pallet with a Home + Made chalkboard sticker and the Mini Pallet will be great to use as drink coaster too.
