Do you love to incorporate Farmhouse Style in to your home decor? Then this Farmhouse Kitchen Soap Holder is an easy way to obtain that awesome look of rustic, galvanized metal without breaking your wallet.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t seem to get enough rustic, galvanized metal in to my decor. Of course, the more old and tattered an item is, the more pricey it tends to be also.
Fortunately though, shiny & new galvanized metal items are easy to find and are very easy to make an look old by using this faux technique.
To make this Farmhouse Kitchen Soap Holder, I used an oval galvanized bucket that I purchased at a craft store and painted it with acrylic paints.
To create an old galvanized metal look, slightly mix together black, brown, grey and white paints on a plate. Then, using a crinkled paper towel, lightly dab the paint on to the bucket. Don’t worry, you can’t do it wrong. Keep lightly dabbing the paint on to the bucket, until you’re happy with the look.
After the paint is dry, brush a coat of Mod Podge over the bucket to seal in the paint.

This kitchen soap galvanized bucket holder is brilliant. Great idea! Do you have any recollection where you may have purchased the bucket? I cant find anything similar to it online?
Hi, thanks for stopping buy! My SIL actually found it a for me at a Dollar Store. I’ve seen similar ones in Hobby Lobby tho. Good Luck- Holly 🙂
Yes , I purchased a few of the galvanized buckets at Dollar Tree. They always have them there in with the garden stuff. I love them and use them for many different floral arrangements. If you find them I would buy a few. Great Idea for the kitchen soap. I was going to buy something more expensive , so now I can spent a couple of buckets to make mine. Thanks for the idea. Love it!
