DIY Drop Cloth Laundry Room Tags
Has the Spring cleaning bug bitten you yet? It bit me this past weekend and I was just tired of walking into my messy and cluttered laundry room. My husband has developed a sensitive skin issue {I call it getting old} which has caused us to try a variety of detergents. Thanks to his sensitive skin issues, the laundry room has become an big, unorganized mess. So, I did a little bit of “shopping the house” to see what I had laying around and made Canvas Laundry Room Tags to clip on wood baskets. In case you don’t know what “shopping the house” is, it’s finding useful items in your home that are not being utilized to their full potential, just like these wood baskets were.
Along with my basket organization and laundry room de-clutter, we now only use one detergent in our household too, all free clear. It’s tough on stains {my kids are all about the stains} yet gentle enough for our whole family, especially hubs skin! To get my laundry room baskets organized, I made Canvas Tags out of drop cloths. My laundry room has a rustic, Americana theme to it so I used red and blue thread to sew a zig-zag stitch around the edges of the canvas then down the side.
For some reason, I just love un-even stitching around fabric. Maybe ’cause I’m a “mad “ sewer? I tend to press the petal to the floor when I sew but I also like how the stitching adds character and keeps the tags from fraying. After my tags were stitched, I used a Sharpie marker to label each tag. I attached the Canvas Tags on to basket with decorative clothespins. I made the decorative clothespins by decoupaging pattered paper on to clothespins with Mod Podge using Pebbles Inc Americana patterned paper. Remember I mentioned my laundry room had a rustic, Americana theme ? I’m always rearranging baskets and re-organizing that’s why I like how these Canvas Laundry Room Tags are temporary. I can easily change out the labels on the baskets.
So, back to my hubs sensitive skin and my new Labor of Love of washing his work scrubs. Even the hospital detergents made him itch, so now home goes his germy scrubs. Ack! Thankfully though, all free clear is 100% free of dyes and perfumes, gentle on the skin and gets his germy uniforms powerfully clean. Yep- Labor of Love. Lots. Of. Love.
I hope these DIY Canvas Laundry Room Tags inspire you with easy Spring Cleaning organizing tips and why not make your organization super cute along the way too!
