DIY Drink Diet Pop Sign

May 13, 2015 by Holly Gagnon 9 Comments

Do you say Soda or Pop when it comes to your favorite soft drink beverage?  I guess it depends on where you grew up.  I used to say Pop as a kid.  Now I say soda and my soda of choice is Diet Coke. Only Diet Coke, not Zero, not Diet Generic just plain ole’ Diet Coke and especially not Diet Pepsi…blah!!!
My SIL, drinks Diet Pepsi by the gallon.  I’m not exaggerating either.  She consumes a large volume of Diet Pepsi daily.  It’s a good thing she’s crafty ’cause we’re definitely not Soda Pop friends.

When I saw this Keep Calm  cut file from Ginny Nilson in the Silhouette store, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  Make a sign for my Diet Pepsi Pop drinkin’ SIL.

I made the sign base out of a piece of wood I had cut, painted, sanded then painted and distressed  some more (a lot more) until I got the look I wanted.

Like I said, SIL is a Diet Pepsi drinkin’ freak so I decided my sign needed a  Soda can on top, not the Keep Calm crown icon you usually see.

I found a Soda Can cut file in the Silhouette store then imported a Pepsi logo to add on  the can.  I then cut the font, can and logo out with vinyl.

Love the sign.  SIL loves it too.   Would look better if a it was a Diet Coke version though.

That’s adorable! (We say “coke” in Texas…. everything, even a Sprite, Dr.Pepper, etc. is referred to as “coke”… crazy people! haha!)

I grew up in California but my Mom is from Arkansas and they referred to any soda drink as “coke” too. As an adult, I changed to “soda” because I was a Pepsi drinker not a Coke drinker…and not diet! I have since given up all soda drinks. Just not good for you.

I do love your sign though. Love the destressing and creative use of the Pepsi logo. Having just purchased my first Cameo, I am amazed at all it can do.
