Baby Subway Art Decor

April 17, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 13 Comments

My sister is expecting her 3rd little boy like any day now.  Her boys names all start with W.  There last name starts with W too.  She’s really going to be tongue tied for years trying to get them boys in order.   So, to welcome the new little “W” into this world, I made her some Baby Subway Art for the Nursery.
Baby Subway Art made with @decoart paints and @silhouettepins

I used my Silhouette and a Baby Subway cut file from Kollette Hall.  I tweaked the cut file a bit  by adding the new little “W’s” name to it.

This was my first Subway art project.  I watched a variety of videos on how to make Subway Art using stencils, paints, contact paper, Mod Podge, etc, etc.  What I attempted to do and actually accomplished are two different things.  Say what??  Your idea didn’t go as planned?  Whaaat??

DIY Baby Subway Art

Subway Art looks cool and it displays a variety of fonts but the “really cool” fonts are extremely delicate to work with.  Like tweezers delicate.  So, after cutting out the cut file in vinyl and adhering it straightly properly on the board, there ain’t NO WAY I was going to take the chance of painting over them.  Sorry, YouTube videos….

The board stayed green, I just added a little more distressing and smiled at my straight white vinyl lettering.  My sister loves it, it looks great in her nursery and no one knows any different.

Ha! I love this! I love the color and the cuts are just perfection… kinda of like someone that “copied” you! LOL! I guess imitation is the finest form of flattery… boy we can get a lot of banter mileage out of this! LOL! In all seriousness, this is a great project and you are right your sister is going to be a mouthful. I have only two H named children and I never get it right… especially when I have mommy grumps!

It looks absolutely gorgeous! I have been too nervous to take on subway art, good for you for even taking it on. I don’t think your result could have been any better!
