Sew Cute Lalaloopsy Birthday Party…

January 20, 2014 by Holly Gagnon 10 Comments

Does your daughter love them cute lil’ button eyed dolls?  Mine does and for her 7th Birthday, I threw her a Sew Cute Lalaloopsy Birthday Party.  Lalaloopsy is a HOT trend right now and luckily, an easy party to decorate for.  Just combine bright colors, yarn and buttons together and your Sew Cute party is born.

Lalaloopsy Birthday Party Table

I can see now why people hire or have a {talented} friend be in charge of the party pics.  It’s hard work being a hostess to over 40 people {most of then being less than 7 yo} and trying to obtain a few good snaps of  all your efforts before they’re enjoyed and destroyed.

My daughter’s party was back in November.   I’m just now blogging her party ’cause I have a lil’ thing called “Blog Post Picture OCD” and I’m not thrilled with my photography.  I was extremely happy with the party and for the amazing weather that day, just wish my pics were a lil’ better. Sigh….  Oh well, it’s about the birthday girl, not Mama’s blog. teehee.

Polka Dot Banner

Lalaloopsy Party Banner

The Lalaloopsy inspired banner was made from a blue polka-dot print fill pattern and the Print N Cut feature on my Silhouette.

In case you’re not aware, Lalaloopy’s are all about buttons.   They wouldn’t be able to see if they didn’t have them {creepy} button eyes so adding Buttons Galore buttons and yarn flowers on to the banner provided a Sew Cute whimsical feel.

Yarn Ball Decorations

Besides having button eyes, the dolls hair is made of yarn.  I added a Lalaloopsy yarn ball centerpiece to the party table along with a few of my daughter’s dolls.  Yarn balls are super easy to make, view my tutorial on how to make yarn balls.

Coffee Can Centerpiece

Lalaloopsy Table Centerpieces

For the table centerpieces, I spray painted coffee cans white {I’m a can hoarder..btw}, wrapped pink yarn around them and stuffed green tissue paper inside.  I used my Silhouette to cut out scalloped circles, the Print N Cut function to import Lalaloopsy clip art and stuck the lil’ gals on to dowels and adhered some more cute buttons from Buttons Galore.
Lalaloopsy Cake

 Lalaloopsy Birthday Cake

The birthday girl decided to have cake this year instead of cupcakes.  Fine with me since it was gonna be a big party and I didn’t really wanna  make 50+ cupcake toppers anyways. Yikes!

Good ol’ Costco hooked us up with a {feels like 10#} cake and the birthday girl picked out a few of her favorite Lalaloopsy toys to use as cake decorations.

 Chocolate Button Party Favors

Chocolate Buttons {candy melts, actually} were passed out as party favors.  Sew Cute, huh?  View my tutorial on how I made these Chocolate Button Favors .

Paper Plate Button Decor

Since this Sew Cute birthday party was at a park, I couldn’t just leave the pavilion walls plain {Blah!} so, I turned paper plates into buttons by simply punching circles out of  black cardstock.  Loved this idea, found it on Pinterest, brilliant!
My daughter really did have a Sew Cute & Fun 7th birthday.  She enjoyed her friends, a face painter, balloon animal artist and a pink cotton candy cart along with adding a few more button-eyed friends to her collection
