Ladybug Birthday Party

January 10, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 26 Comments

For my daughter’s 6th birthday party we choose to have a Ladybug Birthday Party as the theme this year.  Well, Lalaloopsy’s were discussed but Ladybugs would be easier for me to decorate.  Sorry honey, it really is all about Mommy and sharing her crafts ideas.  Maybe well do the the button-eyed dolls net year. and as you can see we did that too.  Lalaloopsy Sew Cute Birthday.

Ladybug Birthday Party  Ladybug Birthday Party

(this post contains affliate links referencing products used)
Her birthday was in the beginning of November and I’m only know blogging it.  Only 2 months behind.  I probably won’t even scrapbook the event until she’s in high school….Yikes! Our ladybug theme and decorations included invitations, a party banner, pom poms, pinwheels, cupcake toppers, cake pops and ladybug party favors.
Ladybug Birthday Banner
I made the birthday banner from circle and scallop layers cut from Cricut Art Philosophy.  The ladybugs are all cut from the Doodlecharms cartridge and I and used Birthday Cakes to cut  the font.
Ladybug Birthday Party Banner
The banner is tied together with black gingham ribbon and I added faux stitching, black pipe cleaners and googly eyes to the ladybugs.
Tissue Pom Poms
Instead of balloons this year (I think there’s a Helium storage anyways),  I decided to hang tissue pom poms.    Wow-sooooo easy!   Martha sells a variety box for around $15, I made mine for $3.
Ladybug Birthday Party Table.
The table decorations included pinwheels and candy vases filled with red licorice and cake pops.  This was my first attempt at making cake pops.    Out of the whole batch, only 6 actually looked like cake pops…Bleek!.  I’ll leave it at that.  I only needed 6 anyways.

Ladybug Birthday Cupcake Toppers

However, my cupcakes did turn out.   I made simple cupcake toppers by using the same ladybug cut from Doodlecharms and stamped a pennant tag using My Pink Stamper buggy punnies sentiments.
ladybug Birthday party Invitations
My daughter helped assemble her ladybug invitations and even addressed them herself.  She added her own creative touch by drawing little ladybugs too.   So cute!

Ladybug Party Favors. Personalized bag and hair bow
The birthday party favors consisted of a coordinating hair barrette, little ladybugs in a jar and a burlap pencil bag that I painted with black dots and each girls name.
Lady Big Party Favors made with ladybug buttons and small glass jars
Aren’t these so sweet?  The ladybugs and a small leaf are hot glued on a branch, stuck it in a small flip-lid glass jar then added some raffia clippings to the bottom.
Ladybug Birthday Party
My Pretty Lil’ Ladybug Birthday Girl!
She didn’t get a Lalaloopsy party this year but she sure made out with a lot of Lalaloopsy presents.  Maybe now that I own a Silhouette, I’ll think about a Lalaloopsy party next year.
