My CHA Fun

January 15, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 5 Comments

This is my CHA whirlwind adventure.  Today is actually the last day of CHA.  I took lots of photos.  There are WAY to many of me in them (Ack!) but I was seriously in crafting heaven.

I was only able to attend CHA for one day…Sigh.   The whole fam including the dog drove from Las Vegas to Anaheim for the weekend ’cause hubby didn’t want me to drive to California by myself.   I know, sweet but I’d rather of gone by myself then feel the guilt of them finding things to do in LA without me.  My guilt left at the entrance door…..hee hee.
CHA

Winter CHA 2013

I’ve had to go to many conventions over the years so I could obtain my  dreaded CEU’s required as a Registered Dietitian.  Boring.  Thoughts of sticking needles in my eyes pass through.  I’m the one in the back row anxiously looking for an escape route like I need a smoke.   I don’t even smoke.  I’m suppose to network but I don’t unless I might get a free sample out of it.  Luckily, I have 5 years to obtain all those dreaded CEU’s.  Ok..I’m using tongue-n-cheek humor, my previous career wasn’t that bad.
Now this is crafting convention!  I could spend the four days there and possible lose a few pounds from walking, talking and skipping meals.   It’s surreal.  The gorgeous booths, the smell of fresh paper, meeting other blog pals.  It’s just an amazing experience!
This was my first goal on my agenda…
Jinger Adams
Meet Jinger Adams!

I met up with Jinger and Kristy Day along with a few of my other fellow designers on the team.  I drooled over the new collections coming out and hung out in the booth for a while.  So Fun!

Jinger has two new collections coming out called Sweet Tarts and Sport That.  She was also debuting an All Occasion Card Kit and a Craft Armoire.

The Sweet Tart collection is chocked full of gingham, stripes, butterflies, cherries, glittered stickers, chipboard and washi tape.  Yes- Washi Tape!   The Sport That collection (which I don’t have an official photo of yet) will be perfect for any sport theme craft project.  It even includes foil tags, chipboard and coordinating washi tape.

Jinger Craft Armoire is awesome!  It really is a great idea and will retail for about $250 dollars.  Expect to see it on HSN in May!  This armoire is way better than anything you’d find at IKEA.

Next on my agenda…Meet my blog buddy Arin from A Piece of Life’s Pie.
CHA
She’s awesome, funny and we have lots in common. Her daughter is even named Holly.  We met on Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog and it was great to pal around with her all day.  We took this photo in the Canvas Corp booth.
Now I gotta….Meet up with some of the other companies I create for.
CANDi CHA
CANDi Girls!
Craftworks Cards CANDi is another fun design team I’m lucky enough to on.  I love to create with those little embellishments.  I find myself adding them to almost everything I make now even when I’m not designing for them.  Jillian from Paper a la Mode, Theresa The Scrapbook Queen and I had chatting with these UK folks for a while.  I even got to bring home some of there new CANDi line to play with.
Now I’m off to Glue Dots ®.
Glue Dots CHA
This is my go to gal at Glue Dots®, Elizabeth Stock.  I love using there product and being a Glue Dots® Dottess.  You just can’t craft without adhesive.  I’m smiling way to big in this photo too.  Maybe it’s ’cause she just told me about my next design team box coming my way filled with all sorts of goodies?

I found Jen from Craft Warehouse.
Craft Warehouse Jen Evans

Jen Evans is an amazing designer.  She designs for Heidi Swapp but she runs the Craft Warehouse design team.   I did a guest designer post for the Craft Warehouse back in December.  It was neat to be able to meet up with Jen after all our emails back and forth.

Now lets play Eye Spy with My  Little Eye some …Crafting Celebrities.
Arin tagged along while I played Eye Spy.  We missed out on a few of them since they were at lunch (Heidi Swapp, Maggie Holmes) but here’s a few we did find.
Tim Holtz CHA
Tim.
I zoomed my lens in for this photo.  Apologies go out to the lady next to me if I brushed your ear with my lens.  I have no idea what Tim was saying or demonstrating. I only know he’s seriously raking in the distress dough.  I don’t use a lot of his product but it’s Tim Holtz so I thought I should get a snapshot.  Check out the guy in the background,  I wonder if he’s scrappy..hmmm?
Lori Whitlock CHA
Yes-this would be Arin and I with Lori Whitlock in the Echo Park Booth. I’m in love with her new Sweet Girl line. Pennant flags, hexagons, chevrons…Love!

  Echo Park CHA
Now that I use a Silhouette, I’ve been paying more attention to Lori’s SVG cuts and paper lines.   Basically, anything she designs is just awesome.
The Lovely Mrs. Collins
Teresa Collins CHA
Teresa has beautiful paper lines and embellishments too.  Her booth was very elegant.  Wow to those Damask curtains.   I stood around like a fool in her booth waiting to get a photo. Weird, I know but I’d would of been mad at myself if I left without one.
Now to spend a little time smelling and drooling over some gorgeous collections coming out.
CHA booths American Crafts

So there it is!   A glimpse of my whirlwind CHA experience.  If I had to pick one thing I saw trending it would be doilies.  Not like you’re grandma’s doily placemats… pretty things made out of doilies.

I have many more photos that I could of shared but I think I’ve exceeded the photo overload threshold for a blog post.  Plus, you’d have to see more of my grins posted…Yikes!

I did miss some booths like Martha and Mod Podge only because my time management skills went AWOL with all my chatting.  I really need to work on that next time.  I didn’t even do a single make-n-take…geez!

Anyways,  hubby took the kiddos to Disney California Adventure Park for the day so the whole fam was happy, happy all the way around.

Next up:   Summer CHA (Create-n-Connect) Las Vegas…July 22-25, 2013!
