Have you been in Home Goods lately? Right now, it’s full on beach, summer decor. It’s like my favorite store. I could totally see this wood anchor being for sale there and I could totally see myself buying it too. I just love everything about Home Goods.
To make this Nautical Faux Wood Anchor, I used a chipboard anchor that I purchased at a craft store and covered it with pretty Etc. Papers White Birch and Cherry Wood Adhesive Tapes.
I layered the wood grain tapes across the anchor making sure the tape covered every part of the chipboard.
When the anchor was completely covered, turn it over and use a Xacto knife to cut off the excess wood tape .
I then used a paper trimmer to cut the tape in to 1/4 inch strips to cover the corner edges making it look like a solid wood piece.
Finally, I applied brown stamping ink around the edges of the anchor to create a distress look then embellished the anchor with rope and a nautical button.
I love the way this Nautical Faux Wood Anchor turned out. It totally does looks like something you’d find in Home Goods, right? Plus, it looks great on my Key West Inspired Fireplace Mantel too.
