I love creating simple home decor projects. Yes, sometimes it might be cheaper and less time consuming to buy them, but I also like to be able to say , “Heck ya, I made that!” Like these Decorative Wood Balls that are currently displayed as a centerpiece on my dining room table.

When the FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® challenge box arrived this month full of foam balls in every size imaginable, not kidding, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Since we’ve recently moved, I’ve found all sorts of fun supplies to create with while I was unpacking. Like a big stack of wood veneer paper ! So, when my huge box of FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® foam balls arrived-voila! my DIY Wood Balls idea was born.
Supplies Used to make Decorative Wood Balls:
FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® 4 inch, 3 inch, 2 inch Foam Balls
Hot Glue Gun
BARC Wood Veneer Paper
Paper Trimmer
To make the Decorative Wood Balls, I trimmed the wood paper in to 1/2 inch strips then used my hot glue gun to adhere the strips around the foam ball. Since each ball is a different size, wrap the paper around the ball once then trim off the excess accordingly. There really is no right or wrong way to make these decorative wood balls, just keep wrapping and adhering the paper around the foam ball in various directions until the foam is covered.
As you can see, I made lots of balls using a variety of wood veneer paper. So pretty, huh?
Decorative Wood Ball Centerpiece
I’ve had these glass vases for a few years now and I’m always changing them up, filling them with seasonal decor, random decorative items just like these wood balls.. Ha! The Decorative Wood Balls can be used all over my house but I love the way they look as a centerpiece on my dining room table. The rustic colors of the wood papers really do complement my table I think.
