Monkey Shadow Box

April 17, 2012 by Holly Gagnon 20 Comments

I rarely buy presents anymore for Wedding’s or Baby Showers.  Instead, I give what I love to do most,  create unique and personalized gifts for the special occasion like this DIY Monkey Shadow Box I created  for a neighbor who’s  having a baby.
Personalized Monkey Shadow Box made with Cricut die cutting machine . 12 x 12 picture frame displays Monkey die cuts.

If I come to your house and seem a little nosy or ask a lot of questions, , I’m just checking out your colors so I can create the best personalized project I can make of you.   Just like this Monkey Shadow Box for my friend who happens to have a Monkey Nursery Theme, her walls are painted light green and also has green gingham ribbon on the walls holding up pictures.   See, I told you I was nosy!  Observant really.

Monkey cut from Cricut the Life's a Party cartridge.

The Monkey is cut with my Cricut  using the Life’s a Party cartridge.  I cut my Monkey and layers are at 9 inches .

Personalized Shadow Box using Cricut Birthday Cakes font.

I used the font from the Birthday Cakes cartridge  cut at  1 inches and layered to personalize the frame.

After all my dies were cut out and assembled, I adhered it inside a 12 x 12 Shadow box. using foam squares.     I also  added some more details on the Monkey using a  Dot embossing folder, and Black Stickles . My friend loved her personalized gift and I was so happy to be able to create it for her too.

PS- you can always invite me to your wedding or baby shower and I’d love to make you something unique too!
