How to Make Easy Glass Magnets for Teacher Gifts

August 3, 2015 by Holly Gagnon 2 Comments

EP disclosure

These easy Back to School Glass Magnets are an inexpensive and practical Teacher Gift idea.   Of course, treats and coffee are also practical and very much needed but good ol’ everyday office supplies, like magnets are probably what Teacher’s will use the most.

How to make Glass Magnets for Teacher Gifts

Creating your own DIY Glass Magnets are really fun to make since they can be personalized any way you like.   I choose to make these magnets with patterned papers found in the Echo Park Paper’s Teacher’s Pet 6 x 6  paper pad.

@echoparkpaper Teacher's Pet 6x6 paper pad and glass tiles to make DIY magnets

To make the magnets, I used an X-ACTO knife to cut out 1″ circles.  You could also use a circle paper punch but I chose to use a craft knife so  I could cut out the exact part of the paper I wanted to use.  Of course, using a punch would of been much easier tho, let me tell ya, it’s kinda hard to cut out a perfect circle by hand.  #issues

After the circles were cut out, I used  Mod Podge to adhere the paper on the back of  round glass tiles.

Glue magnets

When the Mod Podge was dry, I used a strong adhesive to glue the round magnets on the the back of the glass tiles.

When the DIY magnets were assembled and ready to use,  I stuck them on to a magnetic board and hung a couple journaling cards which are also found in the Teacher’s Pet kit.

I hope these easy Easy Glass Magnets Idea for Teacher Gifts inspires you to create something thoughtful for all those amazing teachers out there.  Even  if you don’t have a creative bug in you, I’m sure a gift of good ol’ coffee would do the trick too.Holly Signature
