Did you know things on sticks taste better? It’s a fact, and they even taste better when they’re miniature. Who else struggles to get their kids to eat breakfast? Breakfast is like the worst part of my day especially now that it’s Back to School. The grumbles of of not being hungry are constant but I really can’t blame them, I don’t wanna to eat anything at 7am either. Coffee for me pleaz. Of course, we all know that “breakfast is the most important part of the day” {thanks, Mom} so we can’t let them kiddos walk out of the door with out it.
This is why, I try to be as creative as possible with breakfast foods, something quick, easy and maybe a lil’ fun like these Fruity Breakfast Kabobs. I call them Fruity since there are like four different types of fruit in them. Yay Mom!
Both of my kids have before school activities, so breakfast typically might be a grab and go, eat up in the car if we’re in a rush. I’ve found though, that putting breakfast on a stick makes mornings a little bit better and a lil’ more fun. My daughter even brought home a library book from school about serving foods on skewers . Not kidding, I guess she likes my breakfast on a stick idea.
These Fruity Breakfast Skewers are made with Kellogg’s Eggo Blueberry Waffles, Mixed Berry Nutri-Grain Bars, a banana and fresh strawberries. What’s great about the kabob idea is that you can fit a whole waffle, a whole Nutri-Grain bar, a small banana and a handful of strawberries all on one skewer! Again, Yay Mom!
To make the Eggo Waffles and Nutri Grain Bars miniature size, I cut the waffles in quarters and sliced the Nutri-Grain Bar in to thirds . Can it get any easier, please?
Now the creative part comes in, stick it all on a skewer. Of course, any type of fruits could be used but I can always count on my kids to eat strawberries and bananas. These Fruity Breakfast Kabobs are so easy to make, the kids could even make up their own Kabob varieties.
The mornings when you aren’t actually rushing the kids out the door with a stick in hand, serving Fruity Breakfast Kabobs with vanilla yogurt topped with cinnamon is a great dipping side.
Fruity Breakfast Kabobs are the perfect , quick recipe idea that can easily be made up before school in the mornings. I’m sure your kids will agree, everything does taste better on a stick.

September 9, 2016 at 3:55 pmHey, do you make these a ahead of time… Do the waffles get soggy after a while?

September 14, 2016 at 1:47 pmHi, thanks for the question. Since they are toaster waffles, I would think they might get soggy if made too far in advance. This idea is designed for toast and go. Thanks- Holly
