Clothespins and Buttons Holder

March 29, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 8 Comments

I love using ordinary household items to make home decor projects  just like this tin can turned into Clothespins and Buttons Holder.    I always try and shop my house or dig through my bins of craft supplies to see what I can come up with first before I run out the door to the craft store.  Of course,  making a bee-line to the craft store is seriously tempting.  It’s also much cheaper and  fulfilling to up-cycle things you may have lying around.   Like empty cans.

Clothespins and Buttons Holder

Hello- my name is Holly and I have a confession.   I am a Can Hoarder!   Yep- Coffee, tuna, soup, Pringles, yadda, yadda…if I can turn a can in to something pretty,  I’m gonna keep it! So, yes I did make a Clothespins and Buttons Bowl out of a tuna fish can.   Clean tuna can, of course.

Painted clothespins to make Clothespins Decor

To make my  Clothespin Holder, I pinned the clothespins on to a can and paint edges white.

Then  used Mini Glue Dots to adhere the Spring Buttons on to the clothespins. Seriously,  Glue Dots make life so easy!

I made a Burlap Flower using a Tim Hotlz  Tattered Flower Die,  added a cute button in the center and adhered it on a wood  dowel then stuck it in the bowl full of candy.

Now it’s time to fill it up your Clothespins and Buttons Holder.   You could fill your  project with a small plant, flowers, a candle or candy.  I choose candy.  It gave me an excellent reason to buy some Cadbury Eggs- Yum!
