Fall is approaching and some of us are itching to bust out the pumpkins. It’s still Summer though, it’s still hot so displaying pumpkins just doesn’t seem as appealing to me as a Cactus. Don’t get me wrong, when September comes around I’ll be itching for my pumpkins but for now, a Pretty 3D Paper Cactus {or Cacti to be grammatically correct} adds a unique touch of creativity in to a home office or dorm room.
3D Paper Cactus
What’s awesome about this paper cactus is, I can’t kill! If it’s green I will kill it. I’ve killed a 50 year old Bonsai tree and well as Bamboo plant before. No luck with succulents either. Even though I’ve not had much luck keeping succulents alive, they still make for a great gift idea then someone else can kill it.
To make these 3D Paper Cactus, I downloaded a 3D Cactus cut file from the Silhouette store and re-sized it down to the size I wanted.
I chose a sheet of pretty green scrapbooking paper from Pebbles Inc then sent the cactus cut file to my Silhouette CAMEO .
After the layers were cut out, I adhered them together using my ATG tape gun then inked the edges to give the paper cactus some dimension.
After the Cactus was assembled, I hot glued the bases on to a piece of Styrofoam then hot glued them in to a glass bowl.
This glass bowl was a clear bowl I purchased from the Dollar Store and chalked painted it white. Since I wanted my Pretty 3D Paper Cactus to look like a real plant, I added river rocks in to the bottom of the bowl then wrapped black and white twine around the outside. Don’t ya just think twine makes everything better?!
