Home + Made Altered Memory Tray..

August 11, 2014 by Holly Gagnon 2 Comments

Ever buy unusual craft items only to stash them away ’cause you have no clue what to do with them?  Of course you do, that’s what us Crafter’s do!  Just like this Wood House shaped Memory Tray I’ve had stashed away  forever and finally was inspired to make make something pretty out of it using the new Pebbles  Home + Made collection by Jen Hadfield.  Plus, um hello…the shape of the tray is perfect to display the “let’s stay home” pocket card too.

I’m sorta a homebody.   I like being home.  My kids don’t mind staying home either as well as my husband. Of course, we do get out and do plenty of  fun things, but we do like to stay home together as a family. Proof that peeps like us, who live in 24 hour city {Vegas} like to stay home.

Altered Wood House Memory Tray made from @Pebblesinc Home + Made collection #tatertotsandjello

Jen outdid herself with this collection.  Just love he sparkle found throughout.  Lots of gold.  I‘ve always been more of a silver fan than gold though.  The last piece of gold jewelry I purchased was my High School class ring.  For realz. Not to date myself, that was over 23 years ago.

So, maybe my tastes have changed, I’ve become more sophisticated with age or maybe it’s ’cause hubs is always going on about how we need to by gold as an investment,  I think I’m a fan of gold again.

Spiral Flowers @pebbleinc

The memory tray is lined with Gold Stripe specialty paper found in the the Home + Made collection and the top of the portion of  tray is  filled with handmade spiral flowers cut from a Samantha Walker Flower Spiral Peony Bud cut file.

You can view my tutorial on how I made these spiral flowers over on the Pebbles Blog.

The crackled paint on this Memory Tray was a total happy accident!  Wasn’t planned, occurred by  accident, totally love it, wish I would of thought of it.

Basically, I’m impatient with paint drying.  I spray painted the tray with a few coats of gold then thought it was gold overload {I’m still taking baby steps with the gold} and decided to paint the edges of the house with Americana Chalky Finish Paint.   Obviously, the gold spray paint wasn’t quite dry since it caused my chalky paint to crack.    Oh Serendipity, how I love you!

You can see more details of how I made this Wood House Memory Tray using the new Home + Made collection over on the Pebbles Blog.
