Welcome Back to School Paint Stick Sign

August 13, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 9 Comments

Welcome to the Back to School with Rit Dye and Buttons Galore!  Rit Dye generously sent the Button Bevy gals product to create with for this Hop and we even got to select out our own rainbow of colors. Fun!

I decided to make a Welcome Back to School Paint Stick Sign made out of …yep- {free} Paint Sticks!

                                      Welcome Back to School Sign

In case you didn’t know, Rit Dye can be used to dye all sorts of mediums.  Like plastic, fabrics, ribbon, jute and wood.  I wanted to try my dye out on wood since my heart seems to steer towards wood projects. Especially distressed wood.

I decided to make a  Welcome Back to school sign using wood sticks, school buttons and chalkboard paper.

My wood of choice for this project is paint sticks. Yes, the freebie sticks you get FREE at any Hardware store.

Since this is a back to school project, I chose to work with Cherry Red Rit Dye.  Here’s the directions on How to Dye Wood  per Rit Dye website.

These fun and festive School Days buttons can be found at Buttons Galore & More.   Geez..I still can’t believe my kids will be back to school in less than 2 weeks.   Yikes!
Supplies Used:
  • Rit Dye
  • Buttons Galore Buttons
  • Canvas Corp Chalkboard Paper
  • Paint Sticks {Home Depot}
  • Ruler
  • Ribbon

If you like the supplies I used,  you can purchase your own from  Rit Dye and Button Galore & More.  Enter in discount code RIT20 for 20% off your order! Whoot!

    First of all, your sign is adorable. Second of all, I had no idea that you could use RIT on anything but fabric. Thanks so much for the tip. Thanks for joining us in the 3 Girl JAM “Back to School with Ribbon” challenge.
