Loves Me Valentine Pillow

February 7, 2014 by Holly Gagnon 34 Comments

After many months, I finally did it.  I had the urge to bust out the ol’ Singer {blow off the dust }and make a Valentines Pillow using a Kiwi Lane Designs template.  Say whaaat?  You used a scrapbooking template? Yes, I did.

I’m Blog Hoppin’ today with the Kiwi Lane gals, sharing my Loves Me Valentine Pillow inspired by one of their flower templates.  If you’ve hopped from my blog buddy Arin, at A Piece of Life’s Pie your on track, otherwise, head back to the  Kiwi Lane Blog.

Loves Me Valentine Pillow

Loves Me Valentine Pillow

I like to sew.  I’m  not very good at it though ’cause exact measuring isn’t my thing…Gasp!  I sorta just wing it when it comes to sewing projects but even with my limited sewing skills, I knew I could make a pillow.

Kiwi Lane sent me the Paradise  templates to create with.  Paradise meaning tropical.  Like beach and fish tropical.   It’s Winter.  Since I’m always up for a creative challenge, the flower template caught my eye and inspired me to create something with a Valentine theme.

Typically, I’d create a project out of paper but this time I chose to create something out of fabric.  Pink Houndstooth Fabric that is.

To make the flowers, I ironed the fabric on to Heat n Bond adhesive, traced the template with a sewing pencil and cut them out.  Even though I’m a novice sewer,  I do know Heat and Bond iron on adhesive makes life easier.  For real.

Iron On Vinyl

I added heart embellishments in the center of each flower and used my Silhouette to cut out a “loves me” sentiment using white iron on vinyl.  First time user of iron on vinyl….pretty cool stuff right there!

I wanna give a BIG thanks to the gals at Kiwi Lane for inviting to be a part of there February Blog Hop.

Jennifer at Northwest Stamper is next on the Hop.
