Seventy Years of Marriage Bliss

June 1, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 11 Comments

My grandparents will soon be celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary.   Seventy Years of Marriage Bliss.  Yep, you read it correctly, 70 years of marriage!Over this past Memorial Day weekend, many friends and family traveled from all over {all the way to rural Kansas} to celebrate this upcoming lifetime achievement.Their love story is like right out of a Nicholas Sparks novel.   High School sweethearts, married at 18, WWII wife, love letters sent overseas and a 35 mission countdown till they could be together again. Love Story??To celebrate and cherish this special occasion, I made a guest book for friends and family to sign or leave special notes to show them a small reflection of how they’ve impacted so many lives.

70th Anniversary Guest Book

The whole guest book idea came to me at the last minute { like most of my ideas do}.  This chipboard 8×8 Maya Road binder book that I had in my stash turned out to be the perfect choice for this project.  See, it really does pay off to have a craft stash!
Seventieth Wedding

The whole album didn’t take very long to make once I decided on the color palette.  I dug through piles and piles of paper until I finally decided upon a yellow and teal palette since I found enough coordinating paper to complete the entire book.   Yeah again for shopping my stash!

Wedding Anniversay

I covered the pages of the book using a variety of patterned papers, inked the edges with distressing ink and embellished the pages with doilies, Color Shine mist, CANDi’s, chipboard accents, butterflies, pearls and seam binding  ribbon.

70th Wedding Album

I added pockets on the last page of the book to hold  3 x 5 note cards for the little ones to color pictures on.

70th Wedding Album

On the front cover of the book, I used my Silhouette to weld the word Seventy together and cut the sentiment out of  teal glitter paper.

70th Wedding Album

On the back cover of the book, I added another heart doily and a butterfly accent.
