I love re-purposing items. It goes along the lines of hoarding though. I can’t seem to get rid of certain items just in case something can be made out of them, like these Repurposed Hanging Garden Baskets. I was digging around my garage this weekend and found 2 iron hanging baskets that have not been flowing with flowers since we’ve moved to Nevada 5 years ago. I’ve totally lost my green thumb living in this hot, dry state.

Repurposed Hanging Garden Baskets
In Florida, these babies would of been overflowing with Petunia’s. Now, they just sit in the garage and collect dust. It’s far to dry for hanging baskets here unless you water them like 3 times a day. Skip a day of watering…done, dead, game over! Been there, done that and this is why they’ve been sitting in the garage.
To repurpose the Hanging Garden Baskets in to outdoor decor, I removed the chains from that basket which I totally forgot to take a before picture of.
Then, I attached the baskets together using 20 gauge wire.
and spray them with a few coats of Rust-oleum Metallic Gold paint. I know, it’s that easy!
Don’t judge me on my faux ivy. The ivy looks real from a distance and I don’t have to water it. Now that I live in the dessert, I pretty much kill everything so it’s faux plants for the win. Not kidding, everything. You could stick anything inside these baskets, candles, succlents and cool statue, but right now I like the pop of green with the gold
I’m so glad I finally got around to Re-purposing these Hanging Garden Baskets into something useful and beautiful and glad to know see there is a reason to my hoarding madness.
