Red, White and Blue Star Wreath

June 24, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 3 Comments

If you visit my house during the months of June & July, a festive Red, White and Blue Star Wreath will greet you at my front door.  I sorta have a love affair when it comes to front door wreaths.   And if you do stop by for a visit, you most likely won’t see the same wreath twice hanging on my door ’cause I’m always changing them up a bit.    This year, I choose to go big and bright this year creating a Red, White and Blue Star Wreath using Patriotic ribbon, painted paper mache stars and buttons.

Red, White and Blue Star Wreath

It’s pretty much a rule in my house to have a wreath on my door at all times.  Of course,  If I made a new wreath for every season,  I’d have a lot of them to store.   Hubs wouldn’t like this very much either but I have a lil’ secret to share with you…..I don’t make a new wreath, I just recycle this ole’  grapevine wreath into something new and fresh every season by using a heat gun to melt off the hot glued embellishments then add different ones back on.  That’s it.  Works great every time!
Painted Paper Mache Stars
To make this Red, White and Blue Star Wreath, I painted paper mache stars with red, white and blue paints.
Twine Paper Mache Star
Then wrapped  the stars with twine  and adhered patriotic buttons from Buttons Galore in the center.
Hot glue painted Stars onto a grapevine wreath
I adhered the stars on to the grapevine wreath using hot glue.  Remember my tip from above, a heat gun will be your BFF.
Easy Red, White and Blue Star Wreath made from painted paper mache stars and patriotic ribbon adhered on a grapevine wreath. Easy wreath decor that can be changed with the seasons.
Patriotic Button Bow in a Star Wreath
What’s a wreath without a big ole’ bow?  I adhered the bow on to the top of the wreath then added a stacked button to add in to the center of the patriotic bow.
Red, White and Blue Patrotic Star Wreath
I hope my idea of recycling the same wreath for the seasons inspires you to create your own Red, White and Blue Star Wreath  to welcome visitors at  your door this Summer.
