How to make Personalized Family Magnets

June 14, 2014 by Holly Gagnon 5 Comments

I’ve always been a big fan of Laura Kelly’s Me & My Peeps pals.   I even created my own personalized Peep Family stationary over at Expressionery.com and turned them into cute  lil’ Personalized Family Magnets.

Personalized Family Magnets

Adorbs, right??  My Peep Mom and Dad are regular magnets whereas the Peep kids are clothespin magnets.

How to make Personalized Magnets:

I cut my Peeps Family out of a piece of Expressionery.com stationary {I know, Gasp!} and applied a coat of Mod Podge over them to provide stability.

I cut pieces out of a {free} paint stick to use as the base for the Peep Mom and Dad magnets.  I’m seriously a sucker for free paint sticks.

DecoArt Chalky Finish Paints.

I  then painted the paint sticks pieces with DecoArt Chalky Finish Paints.

Me and My Peeps Magnets
I made Peep Mom and Dad cute by adhering cork behind Dad and adding a whimsical button from Buttons Galore and More to Mom.

To make my Peep kid clothespin magnets, I cut strips of paper from Echo Park Paper, We are Family collection and used Mod Podge to adhere the paper on to the clothespins.

This is seriously one of my favorite things to do, Mod Podge  paper onto clothespins.  It’s so relaxing.  Not kidding.  I think I’ve made about 1000 Mod Podge clothespins.  I have a thing for Clothespin Wreaths.

Here are Peep Dad and Son.  How handsome are they??

use E6000 to glue magnets
To adhere the magnets on to the back of the paint stick pieces and clothespins, I used E6000 glue.  I highly recommend using a strong adhesive when it comes to magnets.

Since my Peep kids are clothespins magnets, my Peep son now has his own personalized magnet clip to hang up something on the fridge he’s proud of or he can claim his mark on an opened bag of chips in the cabinet.

My Peep daughter will always choose to display her art over food so now she can proudly hang up her creations on the fridge using her own personalized clothespin magnet too.
