Halloween Paper Ribbon Wreath

October 11, 2013 by Holly Gagnon 17 Comments

Eeek!   Talk about making a big statement in your Halloween decor  by hanging up this Halloween  Paper Ribbon Wreath.  Go big or Go home, right?
How to make a Paper Ribbon Wreath for Halloween

{this post contains affliate links referencing products used}

When I choose the wreath base from the craft store and this whole idea popped into my head, I didn’t really think about how important the size of the wreath would be.   Like  a   36″ FloraCraft  Make It :Fun Wreath Ring!   FYI-The bigger the wreath form the more  paper ribbons you need to make too.

That’s OK though, it’s big, bold and awesome!  This  paper ribbons are  made with the  Doodlebug Designs Halloween Parade  collection and I actually ran out of the paper in the kit and had to go back and buy more.  Ack!  Like, I said, this wreath form  it’s a big sucker.

Supplies needed to make Paper Ribbon Wreath for Halloween

Supplies Used to make Paper Ribbon Wreath:

  • Wreath Form  (I covered mine in black crepe paper)
  • Doodlebug Designs Halloween Parade 12 x 12 Paper Pack
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Stapler
  • Halloween Die Cuts

Cut Strips of paper to make in to paper ribbons

To  make a Paper Ribbons, you will need sheets of patterned paper cut in to 1 x 5 inch strips.    When you think you’ve cut enough ribbons,  cut some more.  You’ll be cutting LOTS of paper strips.  Like I said, I used up  all  11 sheets in the entire kit and had to go back and get some more.

Staple and ink edges of paper ribbons

  • Fold paper strips in half.
  • Staple ends together. {this step just makes life easier}
  • Ink edges as desired.

How to make a Paper Ribbon Wreath

  • Hot glue paper ribbons on to wreath.
  • Keep gluing ribbons until the wreath base is covered.
  • Keep gluing like 4 evah….

Halloween spider made with a Silhouette cut file.

When your wreath is finally covered  {Phew!} you can now add Halloween Parade embellishments.    Spiders are totally not cute but a spider made of glitter is!  I used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut out a Halloween Spider from a Lori Whitlock cut file and stuck him  in the middle of the wreath.    The googly eyes and Halloween Parade heart sticker really does make him too cute to spook.

To make the Halloween sign, I used my Silhouette CAMEO again to cut a  Halloween Label and Scallop Circle.  I layered the sign pieces together then embellished it with various Halloween Parade This and That stickers.  To keep up with my cutesy spider theme,  I adhered googly eyes on to the spider sticker, then stuck him on a Halloween Parade Pixie straw and attached it behind the sign.

Paper Ribbon Wreath are fun to make, can be a lil’ time consuming but when you’ve got your finished product, it really does makes a beautiful statement in your home decor.
All you need to make this Halloween Paper Ribbon Wreath is Halloween paper hot glue and a wreath form.

    So how many more paper kits did you have to use? I’m thinking if doing a smaller version.

      Hi Deb. Yes, it is a big wreath for sure! I used a whole kit and probably a half of one for this wreath. Next time, I will use a smaller wreath form for sure. Thanks for visiting- Holly
