Leprechaun House for St. Patrick’s Day

March 5, 2012 by Holly Gagnon 59 Comments

Last year, my kids and I set a trap to catch a Leprechaun.  We didn’t have any luck catching him but he did leave us some chocolate gold coins.  Score! So this year, in case we do catch him, I made a lil’  Leprechaun House for him to stay in.  My kids are super-duper excited about this idea too.  I wonder what you feed a Leprechaun anyways?

DIY Leprechaun House for St. Patrick's Day made with Cricut and decorated with burlap just in case you get lucky and catch one!

Leprechaun House

{this post contains affliate links referencing products used}

This Leprechaun House is made with my Cricut and the Dog House cut file found in the  Tag, Bags, Boxes & More 2  cartridge.

This was the first time I’ve used this cartridge and I didn’t realize how helpful it would of been to have had the recommended  scoring blade .  I guess I should of read the instructions in the manual first.  Ha- Like that’s gonna happen!      Unfortunately, the score lines weren’t marked on the house when it cut (sans scoring blade), so  it made the assembly of this house a little more difficult  than it should of been.

Rainbow Buttons

Anyways, I figured it out and I think this little house turned out so dang cute!  My kids love it too and are already discussing the trap for this year.  The house is decorated with St. Patrick’s Day stamp, shamrock die cuts and burlap.

DIY Leprechaun House

I added windows on to the Leprechaun House  using the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge and the roof of the house is embossed with a wood grain embossing folder which ads a nice rustic look to the house.

Leprechaun House perfect place for that Leprechaun to live if you are lucky enough to catch him!

Wish us luck on catching our Leprechaun this year.  At least he’ll  be staying in a cute Leprechaun House and hopefully bring chocolate!

Cricut Cartridges used to make Leprechaun House:

TBBM2– dog house cut at 9.94 inches.
Sweet Tooth Boxes– windows cut at 5.12 inches.
Paper Doll Dress Up– shamrock cut at .53 inches
