Jungle Animal Baby Shower

June 24, 2011 by Holly Gagnon 9 Comments

My  lil’ Sister is having a baby boy and a Jungle Animal Baby Shower so I decided to get crafty and make her a few things.  Of course, my few things turned in to HUGE projects along with volunteering to make decorations for the baby shower.  Mind you, I live in Nevada and she lives in Kentucky, so everything I made had to be shipped across county.  Yes- crazy!
Jungle Baby Word Book

Jungle Chipboard Album

Since her nursery is the  Jungle Theme from Pottery Barn Kids, I really tried  to match up the colors and jungle animals the best I could.
My craftiness started with a word book of the lil’ guys name, Wylder.   This book took quite a bit of time to create on my Gypsy since it was basically  trial and error making the correct sizes.  I got discouraged using my deep-cut blade too even though I followed the directions for cutting chipboard on my  Cricut Expression.   Anyways, I really didn’t have much luck with the chipboard, the machine was going off course during the second cut and I was worried to death that it would kill my Cricut so I switched to cereal boxes as a thinner chipboard which really worked well.  Hello-Brilliant!!

Love my first Word Book creation an hopefully will have less difficulty making my next one.  I did take other photos of the book from different views but they got deleted off my memory stick by accident.  Boo….

Jungle Baby Shadow Box

Jungle Theme Shadow Box

My next project was a large 16 x 20 Shadow Box for the baby’s nursery.   I found this cute canvas giraffe wall hanging at Jo-Ann’s and thought it would make a neat 3D accent inside the box.  Unfortunately, you can’t really tell it’s a large shadow box ’cause this photo is taken without the glass outside of the frame .

Jungle Theme Shadow Box

I used  Cricut cartridges,  Animal Kingdom, Everyday Paper Dolls, Life’s a Beach, Creative Memories and Sweethearts cartridges to create the shadow box.   I love using a variety of cartridges when I craft.
Jungle Thank You Cards

Jungle Themed Cards

So , these cute A2 thank you cards are what started all my Jungle Baby designs.  I made 15 cards using either a giraffe, hippo or elephant die cut along with a stamped Thank You sentiment.  Of course, I had to make coordinating envelopes too.  I seriously  have crafting OCD!

Jungle Animal Centerpiece for baby Shower

To add to my out-of control crafting,  I also made 3 centerpieces for the Shower.
I cut  out Jungle Animals and glued them on to dowels then stuck the dowels into foam which was inside a green plastic pot tied with gingham bow.
The tissue paper I made look like grass which was actually something I fell upon by mistake by trying to pull the paper apart. I really love how they turned out!

How cute are those googly eyes?

So what’s a baby shower without a banner?   I made my Sister a “Welcome Wylder”  banner.  I was a little hesitant at first to make a banner but it turned out to be really easy and fun.   It was hard to take a good photo of the banner since it was so long…..sigh.
 Jungle Baby Shower Banner

To make the banner, I cut circles from George Basic Shapes and used  Gypsy Wandering for the layers.  I chose the head option from  Animal Kingdom cartridge to cut the animal head to separate the banner words.

 Jungle Baby Shower Banner Elephant
I then tied the banner together with ribbon and added a few embellishments for some more Baby  fun.
Jungle Baby Banner Hippo
So that’s what I’ve been doing for the past month!  Everything was sent off and arrived safely.  Phew!  This is all a complete surprise for my sister, I can’t wait for her to see it!
