Altered Wood Box

I really Heart Hobby Lobby!  There 500th store just opened like 4.5 miles from my house-Whoot Whoot!   My husband even gave me a $200 gift card there for our anniversary!   How awesome is that, and why is he promoting my habit of buying more craft stash?

 

Altered Wood Box

Anyways, my nephew just celebrated his 1st birthday and I wanted to make him something special.   I found this wooden box at The Hob and decided to turn it into a unique gift hat he’ll be able to keep his little treasures in.

The original color of the wood was BRIGHT Kelly Green and it just looked to store bought to me.

To keep the box simple, I distressed the wood with a hand sander and painted a thin coat of white wash over it.  I Mod Podged the green and white polka-dotted paper on the chipboard monogram and added some brown wooden buttons along the outside.

I love the way it turned out.  Hopefully, my nephew will enjoy storing his little treasures inside his special box for years to come.
