How to make Simple Clothespin Decor

August 13, 2015 by Holly Gagnon 15 Comments

I’m all about simple projects now a days.  My home decor is constantly changing so it’s  gotta be simple and I’m all about up-cycling too.  I created this  Simple Clothespin Decor out of {clean} tuna cans and of course, clothespins.   I love clothespins.
Simple DIY Clothespin Decos! r. Planter and Candle would make great Mother's Day Gift

Simple Clothespin Decor

True story.  When this idea popped into my brain, it was actually recycling pick up day.  I had a huge bag of recycling ready to go at the curb and yes, I did dig through it to find empty tuna fish cans.   Fortunately, I eat a lot of tuna so they weren’t hard to find.   I’m just so glad I beat the truck to it!   As we all know, dumpster diving is considered  “OK” in the crafting world.
Used Mod Podge to adhere paper on to to clothespins
To make the decoupaged clothespins, I cut strips of paper  and Mod Podge them on to clothespins then clipped them on to   tuna fish can.
Easy Clothespin planter made with Mod Podge and patterned paper

Wouldn’t ya love to receive this little plant holder?  It’s such an easy-peasy project to give to a friend, maybe for a new job, a new house, a new craft room or just for a smile.  You can also stick a dowel in the planter with a stamped sentiment to personalize the gift more.

You can see my tutorial on how I made the  rosette on the front of the planter. here .

Clothespin Candle Holder. such a Simple DIY Gift idea!

I used another tuna fish can to turn into a candle by spray painting  the can black and clipping more decoupaged clothespins on to the can.

These  Simple Clothespin Decor project is exactly why I’m proud to say I  hoard empty  cans!  Ya just never know when a crafting idea may POP into your head.
