Butterfly Drink Topper

September 17, 2012 by Holly Gagnon 15 Comments

Sigh…The end of summer will be here soon and the days will be getting shorter and shorter..Sigh.

I actually find it a good thing ’cause it finally means an end to this miserable desert heat I live in-Ack!  I do love the fall weather in the desert and of course it’s fun to see the kiddos start to get excited about putting up the Halloween decorations.

When I think of Summer,  I think of vacations, swimming, cold drinks, butterflies at the lake and the kiddos being able to play outside late.

I decided to play with my brand-spanking- new Cricut cartridge (that I just happened to purchase on clearance-thank you very much), Cricut Tablescapes- Spring & Summer.    Fun cartridge, lots of ideas and totally worth the clearance price!

Cricut Tablescapes Butterfly

I cut the butterfly base out of Kraft paper and enhanced it with  Echo Park Paper, buttons and twine. Of course, whenever I use Kraft paper it just has to have some faux stitching added along the edges too.

Button Butterfly

I stuck my pretty butterfly on a mason jar full of one of my favorite ice cold drinks…Diet Pink Lemonade. Wouldn’t a bunch of butterflies like this make a pretty statement on a picnic table? They could even be used as place cards.

So, fare-well butterflies of summer.  I look forward to seeing you at the lake next year.

I really enjoyed your interpretation of “lavishly layer” – all the buttons, and color. Thank you for playing along with us this week at The Kraft Journal !

That butterfly really caught my eye. I love it! It just screams summer sitting on the edge of an icy glass of pink lemonade.
