Little Wooden Birdhouses

May 10, 2012 by Holly Gagnon 13 Comments

I’ve had these two little Wooden Birdhouses sitting in my “things to make one day” heap pile and after watching a video over at Court’s Crafts, I decided to blow the dust off them and turn them into something cute.

I made one house Shabby Chic using Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and the other house I made Whimsical using Cindy Loo and the Ribbons & Rosettes cartridges.

DIY Shabby Chic Birdhouse. Natural Wood Birdhouses decorated with scrapbooking paper and Mod Podge

How to make a Shabby Chic Birdhouse

  • Distress a white painted birdhouse with sandpaper and inks.
  • Mod Podge paper on house
  • Adhere lace ribbon and adhesive pearls on house
  • Add a spiral flower cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge.
DIY Whimsical Birdhouse. Natural Wood Birdhouse decorated with scrapbooking paper and Mod Podge

How to make a Whimsical Birdhouse

  • Mod Podge paper on the birdhouse
  • Roof -Cricut Ribbons & Rosettes scallop boarder cut at 1/2 x 3 inches.
  • Wrap twine aroung house
  • Whimsical bird cut from Cindy Loo cartridge cut at 2 inches.
I think it’s so fun to turn a natural wood project in to pretty home decor. I love the way these Little Wooden Birdhouses turned out and the decorating possibilities are just endless.

The made over bird houses are wonderful looking. Would definitely keep them as decoration inside as opposed to outside.

To use the words of my wife, these are simply adorable. She has a small obsession with birdhouses. It probably comes from her obsession with birds in general. I’ll definitely need to show these to her. They look like projects she would enjoy. I’m hoping to get one for her birthday that’s coming up. I’m not personally good with crafts, so I’ll need to find a good company online. Hopefully I find one. Thanks for the pics and post! http://www.tazmangifts.com/listing.asp?dept_id=30070&nopopup=1
