DIY Felt Bookmarks

September 4, 2014 by Holly Gagnon 24 Comments

School is back in session and some of us have to start encouraging nagging the kids to get back into the daily habit of reading homework.  My kids seem to only want to read on their time not so much during homework time.  It makes for a nice evening.  So, to make reading a lil’ more fun, I made my kids some cute Felt Bookmarks using Laura Kelly’s new Pet Shop Sizzix Dies.

Felt Bookmark with Cork Pet Shop Dies #laurakellyart #sizzix

DIY Felt Bookmarks

The super creative Laura Kelly sent me some of her Pet Shop cuties along with a bunch of other fun stuff to play with.  Yay for Happy Mail!

Laura Kelly Happy Mail

Here’s what a “Happy Mail” package looks like from Laura.  You just never know what surprises she’ll toss in the mail.

Felt Bookmark with Cork Pet Shop Die

To make the Felt Bookmarks, I  used my sewing machine to zig-zag stitch a piece of Echo Park Paper on to a felt rectangle and enhanced the cork dies with inks, stamped sentiments and googly eyes, of course.  Everything’s just plain cuter with googly eyes.

This cork lizard bookmark is for my son.  He really does miss the Lazy Days of Summer sans homework.   Can’t blame him on that.

The cork snake bookmark is for my daughter.  She’s Funky & Fabulous and a Diva to boot especially during homework time.

Now here’s you chance to win you own Sizzix Big Shot, Laura’s Pet Shop dies and a bunch of other goodies just by entering into the Rafflecopter for this Awesome prize pack worth $300!

I’d make cards for the neighborhood kids for Halloween. Also, my daughter works at a school and she can use them on the bull item boards! We have been wanting a die cutting machine for sooooo long… 🙂

After being home for 15 years I’m headed back into the pre-school classroom. Templates, stencils, borders, cards, gifts from kids…and the list goes on!
