The only supplies you need to make this  Patriotic Rag Wreath is  a wreath form and fabric strips, for realz, that’s it.  There’s no sewing, no hot gluing, just time spent wrapping is all that is requires to make this type of wreath.

How to make a Rag Wreath

.  For the base of the wreath, I used a dollar store wicker wreath I had laying around which  I’d previously spray painted white for another project but basically, any type of circular wreath will do.  The fabric is from Laura Kelly’s  America the Beautiful fabric which are cut in to strips approx 1 x 10 inches long then  tied in to a knot on the wreath.  That’s it!  It’s really is that simple.  You may need to fluff a lil’ here and there and snip some ends of the rags until you’re happy with the way it looks.

I also tied trips of denim in to the Rag Wreath thanks to my son’s old jeans, as well as  red ribbon, glittered foam stars and Patriotic Buttons  threaded with Embroidery Floss..  Love the way this simple Patriotic  Rag Wreath turned out and it’s such a great project to make with any scrap fabric you have laying around too.

Wow! That is one neat and beautiful patriotic rag wreath you did. I love the colors you chose and all the other materials you used. You totally nailed this one. Grosgrain ribbons really look nice but is it okay if i use other kinds of ribbon for this?

    Holly,
We found your site looking for patriotic DIYs, and love it! Great blog, thanks for the tutorial and inspiration! We ended up making a more simple rag garland with string lights, but still so fun and cute! Thanks again!

So cute! This looks like a project I could do with some older children to get them involved. I need to start thinking of the Summer holidays.
