Rustic Winter Sleigh

Christmas is over {sigh} and now the packing up begins but fortunately, there are a few winter decorations that can still be enjoyed a lil’ longer until it’s time to bust out the V-Day decor.  Like this Rustic Winter Sleigh.
 Rustic Winter Sleigh

A few weeks ago, I was in Michael’s taking advantage of there awesome{get rid of Christmas stuff} sales. I’m a total sucker for craft project deals { like most of us} and I’ve learned if you find something you like, you should always buy two ’cause if you go back they will be gone!  Am I right?

Anyways, I’m so glad I kept to my “buy two” rule when I found these wooden sleighs.   I picked up one for myself {to hoard till next year} and another one, that I personalized for my sister.  I really should of picked up a few more ’cause I so love how this one turned out.

 Rit Dye on Natural Wood

Use Rit Dye to dye wood

The decorating possibilities for this wood sleigh and endless but I knew I wanted to keep the wood grain, hence the rustic theme so, I dyed the wood using dark brown Rit Dye.

Using Rit Dye to dye wood is such a simple technique and I’ve always been happy with the end results. Here are a few other projects I’ve dyed used Rit Dye... Pumpkin Plaque and Back to School sign.

The sleighs runners are painted with DecoArt Glamour Dust paint and I sprinkled Crystal Glamour Dust over the monogram to add some sparkle.
