Cookie Time...

It's Cookie Time!  Have you seen Girls Scouts peddling off there cookies on every corner yet?  My daughter's a Daisy Scout so this is our first year experiencing cookie craziness time.  The competition is fierce, those girls know how to work it!

Besides hitting up friends, family and neighbors the girls spend time selling cookies in a booth.  Our booth needed some cute decorations so here's what I came up with.

The booth centerpiece tells all...Girl Scout Cookies, $4 a box.  People still ask for the price despite a $4 symbol cut at 6 inches in lime green smack dab in the middle of the booth.   I happily tell the customers their best deal is the "5 for $20" deal.

My Flower Friends!

Let's sing the first verse of the Girl Scout song together....

"Make new friends,
 but keep the old.
One is silver,
the other is gold"

Cricut{Old} + Silhouette{New}=BFF

To make the flowers, I used foam board as the base and cut out a flower shape from George and Basic Shapes to use as a tracing template.  I cut the flowers out again using patterned paper to cover each side, hot glued the flowers on to wooden dowels and stuck them inside a foam square.  I then cut vinyl letters out using the Birthday Cakes cartridge and adhered them to the flower pot.

I wanted to add the Girl Scout emblem on a flower and knew it could be imported and traced out somehow using the Silhouette Design Studio.  I had high hopes of only needing to import, trace and cut.  Didn't happen.  It's that probably easy for someone who knows what there doing but I haven't spent the time learning all the bells and whistles the Silhouette offers.

Luckily, my crafty neighbor came to my rescue and cut the emblem out for me using HER Cameo.   It's so great to have a crafty neighbor that can help you out in a crafting crisis.

What's a cookie booth without a cute banner?

I decided to make the banner out of felt.  The wind can get really nasty here in Vegas so I thought felt would hold up better than paper.  I used a Tim Holtz die to make the felt flowers, embellished the banner with various buttons and used the Birthday Cakes cartridge to cut out the font.

I used my sewing machine to stitch the blue felt mats on the pennants too.  Please don't look to closely at my stitching skills.   My sewing machine and I are still taking baby steps together, just like Mr. Cameo and me are.

The photo doesn't show this but I had to add white eyelets to the corners of the pennants to string the cord through.  Remember how I mentioned the wind gets nasty here in Vegas? The little holes took a beating so the eyelets provide some support.

Get your cookies......5 boxes for $20 dollars!  It really is the best deal..teehee.

Let's give a shout out to some of the hard workin' Mama's of Daisy Troop 381- Woot Woot!  This photo was taken on the first day of Booth Sales. We're into week 3 now...we're not this smiley anymore.

  2. Where were you when I had to sit at cookie booths! Your banner and table decor are awesome and your description had me chuckling. Boy, I remember those days. Here in Minnesota we had to sit outside with temps hovering around 0! BTW, I would go for the 5 for $20 deal ;)

  3. How adorable! I never thought of decorating a cookie booth when I was a leader! My granddaughter is also a Daisy, so of course we bought cookies from her-but she lives over 500 mikes away ; still don't have them yet ;)

  5. VERY cute! Even though my daughters troop is a Senior Troop (mostly freshman/sophmores) I am going to make this banner! You've inspired me :) Cookie booths are VERY competitive in Los Angeles but we try to always have fun and thank every one who buys cookies from any girl scout.

  8. I love, love, love your cookie booth! I think you already knew that since I shared it on all my social media sites, but I wanted to leave you a comment here, too. I'm heading out on a cloudy, windy, cold day to go to a cookie booth, this cuteness would just make it a little more nice.
Thanks so much for sharing at Real Family Fun link party.
